The Middle Tennessee Sinfonietta invites composers and musicians from the Middle Tennessee area to submit an original composition to be considered for the Middle Tennessee Sinfonietta’s 2026 Composition Competition.
We will be accepting applicants from the following categories:
- Young Composers (13-17 years old)
- Collegiate Composers (18-22 years old)
- Advanced Composers (23 years old and above)
Submissions due by 11:59pm on Monday, January 12, 2026
In order to be eligible for submission, compositions must be submitted per the specific details outlined below. Compositions that do not abide by the guidelines, rules and regulations will not be eligible for evaluation. Submissions in each category will be voted on by a panel consisting of members of the orchestra and a professional composer. The winning composition from each category will be announced by January 31, 2026. Each winning composition from their respective category will receive a featured performance of their piece at the Middle Tennessee Sinfonietta’s Summer 2025-2026 Season Concert in Spring 2026, as well as audio and visual recordings of the composition for personal usage and a small stipend. All participants will have the option to request feedback from the judges regarding their composition.
